Elly laughed at that, a joyous sound of pure mirth, nodding at the bedridden mechanic. "That's my girl... Sounds like a plan."

I wandered the earth, seeking forgiveness for my own crimes against God. I live to see death, destruction, evil over the years.

Peko.

Vyra almost rolled her eyes at her own naiveness.

Of course. Only one other “she” on this ship. But my guardian? The girl can barely walk!…No, the girl can’t walk at ALL right now. And what does “guardian” mean, anyway? What do I need guarding from?

She squinted as the light from their destination hit her eyes. The loading ramp lowered with a rusty whirring and Vyra, eyes adjusting, could just make out the soaring forms of a city. Sounds of spaceport traffic met her ears while smells of dirty streets and decaying buildings invaded her nose. With a quick glance at Lecter, Vyra marched down the ramp and planted her feet firmly on the ground, casting her gaze out into her new surroundings.

Coruscant? No, too dirty, and it had a distinct smell that the Queen of the Core lacked (thankfully). Next possibility was Nar Shaddaa. Not her first choice of planet if she wanted to ‘rest‘, but… She shrugged mentally. Right now, exactly WHERE they were didn’t matter to her. All that Vyra cared about were three things.

One, they were on a planet and not in space. Funny, considering how badly she wanted to be off-planet the last time she’d set foot on one.

Two, it sounded like she’d get to spend some time with Peko. Which was a very good thing. The images of their last ‘talk’ flashed through her mind--the blood promise, the cut on her thumb. Yes.

And three. Lecter had said something about rest. What Vyra wouldn’t give for some gosh-damn REST.

“Are you sure Peko is well enough for this?” she said, turning back to Lecter with a concerned look. “I know she’s a tough girl, but her legs…”

The Captain cut her off with a wave of his hand. "But nothing. She may be hurt, but I know what my crew is capable of. She'll be more than adequate for your needs."

They were weaving their way through a thick crowd, heading towards a large building with a false front. Despite this, their stroll remained unjostled; one of the first things Lecter had learned with his newfound Force Power was how to use his presence to maintain his own personal comfort. And Lecter hated to be jostled...especially by such dirty types as lived in Nar Shaddaa.

"Besides, there's a reason the crew gave her the nickname they did. You should hear the stories sometime, some are quite shocking."

"It's downstairs! It's...it's..."

Leo tried to slow his heart rate, which would in turn allow his synapses to fire somewhat more legibly, and ergo allow him to tell Joshekk the medical Wookiee exactly what he needed. In truth, he needed a pair of pliers, bandages, and enough bacta to drown a Mon Calamari swimmer. Leo reached back into his own medical school days, where his professor had taught him the importance of calming himself in order to successfully perform surgery under pressure. His breathing slowed...he calmed for a moment. The moment was short-lived; Leo grabbed the Wookiee by the wrist and plowed forward, making slow (but under the circumstances, phenomenal) progress as he dragged Joshekk across the ship.

Leo failed his surgery class miserably.

The old Wookiee groaned in dismay as he was dragged along. Some humans were so.. odd.. that they defied words. A crisis, and the man was stuttering and gasping like a fool.

"Downstairs. In the brig?"

If Leo could only communicate in non-sentences for the time being, then Joshekk would have to oblige. All he needed was the location, and then he could get there much faster than the poor boy could ever hope for. After all, a human at his best would be hard-pressed to keep up with a Wookiee at full stride.. and Leo was far, far away from being "at his best."
Broken desolation,
Every hope now lays alone.
Trust forever shaken,
Reaching out to the unknown.
All the times we had and shared,
You push them to the past.
Afterwards I've come to see,
Love can never last.

"Br...brig? Yes! YES! BRIG!"

Leo's shortness of breath won out. Getting out those last words, the boy's eyes rolled backwards in his head, the hand grabbing Joshekk loosened, a final, drawn breath escaped his quivering lips...

...and Leo fell to the floor with a loud thud.

"I did wonder," Vyra said, voice thoughtful, "about her name. Perhaps, if there is time, I'll hear the stories behind it."

She took a moment to marvel at the way Lecter seemed to cut effortlessly through the crowd of beings without making contact. It gave keeping people out of your "personal bubble" a new meaning. Probably not all that hard to achieve, but still impressive for one like Vyra.
A building loomed ahead of them, looking for all intents and purposes quite normal. As they neared it, Vyra stayed close to Lecter's side, careful not to touch him. Her wristband was pulsing again, slow and steadily.

Quite suddenly, Vyra felt very vulnerable. Small and alone. Her thoughts danced with apprehension again. A question slipped out.

"When all this is over, may I go home?" she said, sounding rather like a frightened little girl than a grown woman.

"Milady," Lecter replied, "When I am done with you you may go anywhere you are able."
He resisted the urge to pat her head like a father; no use in overplaying his hand now. They had finally reached the entrance of their destination. It was larger than the others on the block, but worn-down, and it had no door. He settled himself for gesturing for her to enter before he did. "It's not quite grand, but Siri'ha here knows how to keep people tucked away comfortably. Don't you, madam?"

There was a gnarled old Evocii scrubbing one of the back tables; she nodded absentmindedly, then jolted as the Captain addressed her. She squinted, then recognizd him.
"Well, if I din't think I'd see you again so soon. You finally found that Lady, eh, Lecter?" She winked lecherously at Vyra. "Your room is just upstairs. I suspect you'll find your own way, eh?"

The Captain made a tching noise in the back of his throat. "Don't be rude, you deviant. Besides, I have more pressing matters to attend to. Did he tell you what room he was in?"

"Tcha, no one tells this old woman anything. You want 'im so bad, call him yourself."

"I know you are his mouthpiece, Siri'ha." Lecter fixed the Evocii down with one eye; she stopped scrubbing, looking suddenly dazed. "I wil make myself clear. My ship will be scrapped in a matter of days, along with whatever remainder of the cargo is aboard. If I do not see him before that happens, neither of you get paid. Now. Escort the Lady to her room, and tell him that I am waiting."

There was a pause...then Siri'ha bobbed her head in a gesture of respect, and bustled her way over to Lady Salicaire. "Eh, right. This way, miss, this way, it's not perfect, a mutant's hands can only clean so much. But the bed's right proper, you should be grateful for that at least, come on, miss, come on."

The bleeding in Bendix's arm had slowed to an ooze. He had done little, besides removing the glass; he HAD ripped the hem of his shirt (the shirt Reyna had given him, he remembered dully) into long strips and used them to fashion a tourniquet. Now he just lay there, feeling his heartbeat pulse in the crease of his elbow. If he heard the evacuation orders now being issued over the intercom, he gave no sign. Heck, he barely wanted to acknowledge the Wookiee entering the brig, dragging an unconscious Leo behind him. But Joshekk had steady hands, and Bendix most likely needed him if he wanted to live past evacuation.
So he turned to watch. "Guess the boy got a little too excited, huh."
